New Committee Announcement
TRC had its AGM Monday night and a brand new committee was voted in!
Our new President is Angela Brogden. Ange leads with her humour, humanity, and small business know how. She began rowing at age 14 with Wellington Girls College, became a member of Star Rowing Club Wellington, and also Canberra Rowing Club.
“Being a member of the club here in Taupo as a master has renewed my love for the sport I've always been a part of and I hope that my boys will follow in my footsteps soon, as college rowers.”
Also Voted in was Luka Ellery. Luka began at Te Awamutu Rowing Club in 2010 where she competed for four seasons at high school level before moving into the Waikato Regional Performance Centre. She competed overseas in various NZ representative teams. She was also involved with the University of Waikato Rowing Club Committee for nine years, the last four of which she served as President. Luka’s goal is to give back to TRC with her calm wisdom and deep rowing experience. TRC is thrilled to have her!
Two other new faces include parents and hopefully future rowers Mathew Strik and Fraser Scott. Matt brings a deep knowledge of the Youth program and a drive to solve problems amongst stakeholders. A useful skill around a rowing club! We warmly welcome his contributions. Fraser has been associated with the club on and off for over 15 years. He’s a board of trustees member of Tauhara College. He wants to be a part of making this a great rowing club for everyone involved.
Our new Club Secretary is James Kemp. James is a novice rower with an expertise in Construction Management. Given our clubhouse situation, this is a fantastic skillset to have.
Liz Smith and Hugh Monro will be returning to their positions as Treasurer and Club Captain. Massive thanks to them both for the hundreds of hours they put in to make sure this club functions.
Ange’s first message to our rowing club was the following.
“ I'm looking forward to this exciting challenge. And it won't be a challenge because we're all going to do this together as a team, which is what rowing is all about. Because if we don't all move at the same time, the boat doesn't run. Have a good night guys.”
